Barrel to Gallon Converter: Crude Oil Volumes and Prices per Unit
A barrel (bbl) of crude oil is 42 U.S. gallons, and a U.S. gallon is exactly 3.785411784 liters, so a barrel is 158.987 liters. A price per barrel divided by 42 gives the price per gallon of crude oil; each $1 per barrel is about 2.38 cents per gallon.

Why a barrel does not make 42 gallons of gasoline
Refining splits crude oil into many products. EIA reports that U.S. refineries produce, on average, about 19 to 20 gallons of motor gasoline and 11 to 13 gallons of distillate fuel (mostly diesel) from each 42-gallon barrel, along with jet fuel and other products (EIA). The barrels and gallons explainer has more on units, and crude oil vs gasoline compares the crude cost per gallon with the retail gasoline price.
